My Place Hotel opens in Council Bluffs
Monday, December 04, 2017
The first My Place Hotel in Iowa officially opened.
Located at 2281 S. 35th Street, the economy, extended-stay hotel is the 33rd hotel in a fast-growing national chain that stretches now from Alaska to Georgia. Though it offers discounts for weekly and monthly guests, as other extended-stay hotels may offer, My Place also has attractive nightly rates.
“We cater to every guest,” said Ryan Rivett, the company’s president and CEO. “Our nightly rates are in line with our competitors, even a bit lower usually.”
In a year, the chain hopes to expand to 50 locations nationwide, including two more in Iowa, he said.
The four-story, 63-room hotel actually had a “soft opening” on August 17 and immediately became a popular attraction, according to Misty Young, assistant general manager.
“We were sold out the first weekend,” she said.
Every room features a kitchenette with a full-size refrigerator, microwave and a two-burner stove. Each also has a cable television with 167 channels, and free Wi-Fi is available, Young said.
It’s also the only hotel in the entire chain with a swimming pool.
My Place Hotels of America LLC., based out of Aberdeen, South Dakota, is a franchise company with local hoteliers Gary Friedenbach, the owner of the Council Bluffs hotel, with his son, Len, the general manager.
“We’re optimistic,” Gary said about the hotel’s future.
