56,000 more homes will be provided service
Telecommunications provider CenturyLink will offer high-speed internet service to 56,000 more homes and businesses in the Council Bluffs-Omaha area by the end of the year.
The expansion includes about 1,600 homes and small businesses in Council Bluffs and the surrounding area, a company spokeswoman told The Nonpareil.
In addition to the high-speed connection, CenturyLink also will offer to lock in prices for internet service for residential customers for life, the company said, a service it’s calling “Price for Life.”
The rate for service stays the same as long as the customer keeps the same plan and stays at the same address; there’s no contract and no cancellation fee, the company said.
A plan offering 20 megabit-per-second service was listed for $45 a month on the company’s price-for-life website. The rates exclude taxes.
Much-faster “gigabit” service — or service that delivers speeds of 1,000 megabits per second — will be rolled out to more households and businesses in metro as part of the company’s service expansion, said spokeswoman Rachel Woodman.
